NA Semax Amidate is a research grade derivative of Semax, a synthetic heptapeptide based on a fragment of the hormone ACTH. The N-acetyl modification protects the N-terminus from aminopeptidase degradation, while C-terminal amidation protects the opposite end, together producing a significantly more stable compound than unmodified Semax. Research has focused on the same mechanisms: BDNF upregulation and influence on the dopamine and serotonin pathways involved in cognitive function and neuroprotection.
